The Air Jordan 13 “Lakers” is dedicated to the Los Angeles Lakers and, more specifically, a memorable showdown between Michael Jordan and a young Kobe Bryant. Jordan, then in his final season with the Chicago Bulls, faced off against Bryant while wearing the Air Jordan 13 “Chicago” in 1998. The “Lakers” colorway features the same color blocking as the original makeup and substitutes the Lakers’ “Forum Blue” hue along the heel and mudguard. The dotted white leather upper is contrasted by a smooth white leather toe. A holographic emblem denoting Jordan’s “Black Cat” nickname, meant to resemble a panther’s eye, can be found on the heel. Black embroidered Jumpman branding appears on the tongue. Black midsole pods finish off the look. The Air Jordan 13 “Lakers” was released on July 19, 2019.
